A volumetric smart-film sculpture created by me and Ben Chaykin.
An Arduino triggers a relay to rhythmically pulse layers of smart-film, causing them to turn from opaque to transparent.
This was our first attempt to create a digital 3D sculpture. The intent was to scale this up into a larger installation where geometric 2D or 3D shapes would appear to animate through a volume.
